Talk to Me, Goose! is an AI-powered text-to-speech platform that gives you access to high-quality, emotionally-rich voice synthesis. Type or paste text, and hear it spoken back in your choice of dozens of voices — or even your own cloned voice.
Built by a person living with ALS and their caregiver, this app was designed to reconnect people with their voice, their loved ones, and their independence.

Talk to me, Goose! unlocked the means to use an AI voice clone created by ElevenLabs, along with Darin’s previously recorded voice banking messages so that when he talks, it’s really him or sounds just like him. Add to that the app’s Merlin capability to easily generate nuanced speech suggestions, and he can have real conversations again. The other night, he tried Story Mode, and got to tell his kids a bedtime story for the first time since losing his speech. Our three year old was so young she doesn’t even remember daddy reading or telling her stories. Here’s her review: ‘I want to read that story again and a hundred hundred times again forever.’

The Story Behind Talk to Me, Goose!
The Motivation
When David faced the possibility of losing his ability to speak with his own voice, it was terrifying. A life spent talking, sharing, telling stories, and engaging with others would become different, slower, and more difficult.
Motivated to find an easy-to-use, high-quality, fast, and emotionally-rich text-to-speech tool, we were disappointed with what we found. Many tools were rigid, rendered voice poorly with little emotion, or were slow and clunky.
Thus, Talk to Me, Goose! was born — named after Maverick’s RIO, “Goose” Bradshaw, because no Gen Xer would pass up that opportunity.
The Technology
We partnered with ElevenLabs, the leader in AI voice synthesis. Their technology allows users to create professional voice clones safely and securely, and their API enables fast, responsive mobile applications.
The app synthesizes up to 40,000 characters at once (about 40 minutes of speech) in ~30 different languages. We use the highest quality models for short text and automatically switch to ElevenLabs’ “Flash” model for longer passages to minimize latency.
Synthesized speech can be downloaded and shared however you’d like.
